SLEEPING

Cry it out method - does it even work?

I’m having trouble embracing the CIO method with our 4-month-old. Both my mother and mother-in-law swear it’s the best way to get a baby to fall asleep faster and sleep through the night sooner. At this point, my husband and I are getting desperate for more sleep and I know our baby needs it, too. Is it really the best thing to do, or can it be stressful on the baby?

CHILDCARE AVAILABILITY

How do I choose the right daycare?

My husband was just laid off and I need to start working full-time, at least for the time being. I’ve been a SAHM with our three-year-old since he was an infant. I’m a nervous wreck and having a super hard time leaving him with strangers. I worry that he won’t receive enough attention and care. How do you make the right choice and how can I vet potential daycares?

How do I know if I'm spoiling my child?

Hi, mommas! My little one is an angel and I’m lucky to be able to give him most all of the things he asks for, which is a privilege I didn’t have as a kid. I’m wondering though, at what point does it become too much? When does it become spoiling him? I want him to stay as sweet as he is for a long time.

Gender Neutral Parenting: Pros vs. Cons?

It’s really important to me that I raise my child in a way that allows her to be whoever she wants to be. She’s still really small, not sitting up just yet. I’m wondering if any of you have raised your children with a gender-neutral parenting style, what it has been like, and why you chose to do it. Also, if anyone is super opposed to gender-neutral parenting, would be interesting to hear your thoughts, as well!

Should I go back to work or be a stay-at-home mom?

I was working in the service industry before my daughter was born, but she is about five months now and I still haven’t gone back to work. My husband has assured me that he can support us and I don’t need to go back to work if I don’t want to. I can’t decide if I should go back to work or be a stay-at-home mom though. I miss my job a lot, but I think I might feel guilty working when I could be spending time with my daughter instead. Any SAHMs or career moms who can give me some advice on this?

Opinions on spanking kids?

My husband and I are trying to find the best way to discipline our sons. My husband was raised in a family that spanked children, but I was not. I think because I was never spanked, I really don’t feel okay with spanking my kids. Moms, help please! Ideas on ways to discipline, and also feedback on whether or not spanking is still a thing nowadays would be amazing. Thank you!

Is it okay to post pictures of my toddler on social media?

My daughter’s first birthday is almost here and I’m starting to wonder whether or not it’s appropriate to share photos of her on my social media. Most of it is public because I had never cared much about the privacy of my own photos before. It’s mostly just my friends who follow me I think. Most of my friends post pictures of their families. Do you think it’s okay to post photos of my children on social media, especially if the accounts are public?

Good Jobs for Stay-At-Home Moms?

I’m a stay-at-home momma. Been trying to find a good way to work a little bit from home. Do any of you SAHMs know of good work from home jobs you can do while caring for your little ones?

Best pets for young kids to care for?

What are the best pets for little kids to take care of? My daughter is four and she really really wants a kitten, but my husband is allergic and I think maybe a smaller animal might be better for her first pet. What are some good pet options for little kids?

Breastfeeding vs. Formula?

I’m a brand new mom and after all of the books I read when I was pregnant, I had decided I wanted to breastfeed my son when he was born, but it’s so hard for me. It hurts and we’ve been having a lot of difficulty with him latching on. What are your opinions on breastfeeding vs. formula. Is it really that bad if we don’t go the breastfeeding route?
