In 2017, we set out to find a better way...
While expecting her first child, Jessica Chang faced a challenge that many new parents in the United States face: being forced to leave her job because of the lack of affordable and available childcare. This forced her to look at the industry with a different lens and set out to change it.
With the determination of a mother, she became a daycare operator where she was immediately overwhelmed by the mountain of tasks required to run the business. There was an overdue need for a tech solution. From there, Upwards was born. Together with her co-founders, Jesse and Matt, they got to work
building a new future where care is accessible to all families. Upwards has blossomed into a nationwide movement uniting families, caregivers, employers, and government agencies to redefine the care landscape. Our technology has become an indispensable tool, matching millions of families with caregivers, supporting communities in removing barriers to care, strengthening childcare providers, and enabling major U.S. employers to offer quality childcare to their working families.
Care should be at the center of how we design the future. And the future of care is Upwards!
