Not all conversations are easy ones. Discuss modern families, parent separation, sibling rivalry, and how to tell a young child you are pregnant again.
We placed my son in daycare about three weeks ago. I felt very lucky with the spot he was able to get, and confident that the teachers at his daycare were more than adequate. However, he came home today with a pretty big scrape on his knee. When I asked him what happened, he said he was running outside and fell. I was relieved that it was just an accident and that it wasn’t a problem with one of the other kids, but shouldn’t the teachers have said something about it to me? It was a big scrape. Probably almost three inches long. Not sure if I should wait and see if they bring it up or say something about it tomorrow morning when I drop him off.

My husband and I are separating and our kids are 2.5 and 5. How do I share this with them when they’re so young?

My son has been having a lot of trouble with sleeping at night. He’s almost 12 weeks and it takes us hours to get him to go to sleep. He falls asleep fastest when my husband or I am with him. I know co-sleeping gets a pretty bad rep, but is it really that bad?

Did anyone else grow up with alternative medicine (mostly herbal teas) as the only remedies for common colds, fevers, and flus? I'm not anti modern/western-medicines, but I grew up with it, and I don't feel comfortable giving over-the-counter drugs to my son every time he shows some sign of an illness? Esp if it doesn't seem urgent.

I recently watched a video about a growing movement of parents who want to eliminate technology in the classroom and instead focus on real-world interaction and holistic skills. I thought this was an interesting contrast to all the tablets and coding courses that are so common in the modern classroom. My niece is a toddler but I wanted to mention it to my sister as she nears school age. Is this too extreme? Is it worth the cost?

My little ones spent some time with their grandparents over the weekend, and my mom let them play some games on her iPad. My kids weren’t interested in my phone or iPad before, but they sure are now! They won’t stop bugging me about playing games on them. Is it bad for kids to have to be exposed to things like this? How much time is too much screen time?

Okay, so I know this is a big topic, but I’m wondering what your honest thoughts are on vaccines. I’ve read so much on both sides, but I’m kind of afraid to talk to my mom friends about it. Do you vaccinate your children, and why or why not?

I’ve been very careful to make sure my twins really only have healthy food. When we go out, they get a glass of water or milk (rarely juice), and their diet is very healthy. I’m proud of it! But they spent some time with my sister and their older cousins yesterday and I found out they gave my little ones soda, which (no surprise) they loved. Should I nip this in the bud? Is it something that is unavoidable? And are there any sodas that I specifically shouldn’t let them have?

My 8 month old wakes up every 2-3 hours and it’s making me insane. Has anyone else failed at the Ferber method? I don’t know what to do.

My mother in law has started asking when we’re going to have our little girl’s ears pierced. I didn’t get mine pierced until I was about 15 or 16, so I was never planning on having her ears done so young. She’s only 5. Obviously there’s nothing wrong with waiting until later, but I’m feeling kind of pressured. Does anyone have strong opinions about having a child’s ears pierced?
