Toddler keeps getting sick at preschool!

I have a 18 month old son who keeps getting sick at daycare. Almost once a week he gets sent home, cough, fever, tummy bug! It's really frustrating because my boyfriend and I keep having to take off work! Anyone else having the same problems?

Oh my gosh, yes!! I was just talking to my mommy group about this yesterday. It's so hard to keep them in daycare consistently! I feel like every other week they are sick. Hoping that once we hit the full year mark they illness will stop :) 0 Likes

I 100% went through this when I first put our kids in preschool. One thing I did that was super helpful was make sure that we washed hands at drop off and pick up to try and eliminate taking new germs in and daycare germs home. Lucky my kiddos are in elementary school now and we haven't had a sick day yet! 0 Likes

Yes, totally normal specially during this time of the year. I wash my little one's hands right after I pick him up and I keep reminding him to wash his hands when he uses the restroom and before he eats at school. 0 Likes

I went through the same thing and my physician warned me. The best thing to do is review the daycare’s sick policy for other children attending to minimize exposure, review their facility care (toy sanitation - how often, how is sanitation done). Also ask your physician for recommendations to strengthen your little one’s immune system. 0 Likes
