As an older sister who grew up in a Latino household, it’s always been in my nature and became a natural passion for caring for children. I knew I wanted to become a teacher the day I started Kindergarten. I had a teacher who looked just like me, and she was the only representation I ever had growing up in the public school system. I wanted to be a reflection of the great things my community can accomplish, and I’ve had the honor of working with intelligent, funny, and bright second grade bilingual students for a semester during my pre-candidacy fieldwork. I attend UIC and start student teaching in the fall. I am passionate about teaching and the privilege of helping grow and nurture young minds. I believe in the potential of everyone, which is something my parents instilled in me from a very early age, as well as love for animals, the Chicago Cubs, and food! I am looking forward to expanding my caretaking abilities, working directly with families, during my last two years of university and potentially beyond!
