From crying and yelling to snapping back into the happiest mood in a very short time span, my daughter’s emotions are very wide-ranging. Recently, she’s been really fresh; how do you deal with a super sassy 5 year old?!

My best advice is to ask her what’s on her mind! 5 is one of the hardest ages for a girl. By 6, my daughter came out of it. Encourage her to express whatever she’s feeling and take the time to sit down and really listen to her. It’s a stage, then on to the next one. It’s a roller coaster that’s for sure. 0 LikesAutumn posted February 18, 2020
The book, "The Whole Brain Child by Seigel and Bryson," is great for learning about how to meet kids where they are developmentally, get an understanding of what's going on in their brain, and help you develop strategies to work with them in a way that supports their mental and emotional health. Highly recommend giving it a read! 0 LikesJanelle posted February 19, 2020
I believe she's in the process of developing her emotions... She's only 5 she has a long way to go for you to worry.. 0 LikesDeborah posted February 19, 2020
Ask the child if some one is hurting him? Help the child know the difference between good and bad feeling. Some children are just so to comply with adult expectations you need to find out why? Does the child have hearing impairments? Talk and spend time with the child help him to express emotions in different ways. 0 LikesLaine posted February 25, 2020
No Bad Kids by Janet Lansbury and Raising Emotionally Intelligent Kids by John Gottman MD are great books too. Both talk about toddler developmental needs and how to communicate and help them along. I love to do audioobooks so I can listen while doing other things. 0 LikesBethany posted May 1, 2020
When she is upset, just try sitting next to her and asking her how she feels or just letting her know you are there for her while she is tantruming. You’d be surprised how just a little extra support will open up a whole world into their brain. 0 Likes
