Colic in Babies - Advice!

My baby has been crying since he was born 4 days ago. I am so scared that something is wrong but I googled it and talked to my doctor and they told me it's Colic. I still feel so uncomfortable with it and feel like I am hurting my child. What are some ways I can relieve my baby of this? Please help!

Colic is very common and you shouldn't be worried. I know it's very hard to hear your baby cry but the best thing to do is to cuddle and swaddle your baby so that he is comfortable. Babies miss the warmth of the womb and it's best to tightly wrap them up so that they feel that confining space again. 0 Likes

Try placing your baby in a dark room with white noise and in a swaddle. It replicates a womb and you can try rubbing his back whenever he breaks out in these nonstop cries. Hearing your baby struggle is the worst and I completely understand! Try everything and anything! 0 Likes

Along with the helpful suggestions above, we found putting our baby in an infant car seat in the back of the car and going for a little ride had soothing affects. The movement of the car and some white noise music helped our baby relax and most of the time fall asleep! Try not to beat yourself up too much about it though, Colic is pretty normal for newborns and they will eventually grow out of it. 0 Likes

There are some methods that may bring your baby some relief. Try laying your baby on their back in a comfortable dim-light room. You can also try placing a warm water bottle on your baby’s tummy. Swaddling and infant massages also help in comforting colicky babies. 0 Likes

My son had colic really bad. I would go in the bathroom turn on the shower with hot water and it would take the colic away. Please cover your baby and try not to go out when it windy outside. And stay away from fans in the house. 0 Likes
