Olivia S.
Babysitter in Battle ground, WA
I have been taking care of my little cousins from ages to 5, middle childhood 6 and 9 even one of my cousins who are age 13.
If you do a state and federal background check (which I strongly recommend so you feel as comfortable as possible obviously) I can guarantee you will only find a car ticket for me crashing into a pillar. (DO NOT PLAN ON DRIVING ANYWHERE)
I am first aid certified, but not CPR. (I do however educate myself as much as I can in these dior situations.
- If your child was chocking however my best course of action seems to be giving up to five abdominal thrust while also holding the child around the waist and pull inwards and upwards above their belly button.
If your child was is not breathing I would say I would try to give 1 rescue breath every 3 to 5 seconds or about 12 to 20 breaths per minute.
- if child was bleeding I would apply direct pressure to the wound using a sterile clothe if possible or a clean non-fluffy cloth, to stop the bleeding. If there's an object in the wound, don't pull it out. and rush to the ER.
If you did chose me as a provider, id first ask them what there favorite activity was and plan /organize around that (to a healthy extent) - or find some new things they might enjoy broaden there horizons a bit. Regardless, ima do every activity with them whatever it is.
I believe what makes me a good choice is that I feel like I can creativity match with the little ones, and able to read body language and being around kids while growing up, and watched over them. I also have done a couple "child hood development classes in HS.
I am however not licensed, its always been ether just a given to take care of my smaller cousins and as well for extra cash while I was in school.
I can give a couple references as well.
