I’ve been a nanny for the past year and have been working in close proximity with one family in particular caring for their 10 year old daughter. I’ve always had a passion and a natural connection with kids whether it be new borns, toddlers, preschoolers or teenagers…….you name it! But being brought up in the Caribbean I had to be 18 to legally work with children so that kind of limited my experience before migrating. Nevertheless, I still took every opportunity presented to care for kids and gave it my all. While others might see being a nanny/babysitter as just a job, I see it as a way of caring for and nurturing someone else’s children which I quite enjoy. Just being given the opportunity to make a positive impact on kid's lives is truly a blessing. And so I decided to take it a step further and invest in taking an HHA class so I could be better suited/equipped to care for and include children with special needs because they too deserve all the love and care in the world and I wanted to be the person to share that with them. Upon completing this course I also saw to it that I was CPR/BLS certified if so that if needs be, I can respond quickly and effectively in an emergency. It’s all about the child’s safety and well being and me being prepared in those situations is very important not just for me but for the child and their parents.
