Shefali G.
I have been taking care of my siblings while my parents were away for work and, at the same time, going to school. This went from middle school to my early years in college.
I mostly cooked meals, did laundry, helped them with homework, and listened to their stories, especially when they are in their most vulnerable state.
I may not have a bachelor's degree in early childhood education or credentials/certifications, however, I have come to learn to put the children's needs first before my own.
What is most important is putting yourself in their shoes whatever state or situation they are in, especially in a pandemic and the constant change of the world i.e., social media.
I will be their caretaker as I have taken care of my brothers as if they are my own children.
