Lee B.

My name is Lee Bledsoe. I was born in Atlanta, Georgia and raised in Columbia, South Carolina. I’ve been here for going on 30 years, and I have loved every minute of my experience here. Almost all of family lives in Columbia as well, and I was raised on the importance of family, and having a healthy support system.

I absolutely love teaching - it’s in my blood. Both of my grandmothers were teachers and matriarchs. I consider both of them massive role models, and because of them, I grew up with a huge respect for teachers and education. They are the the reason I wanted to be a teacher for my entire life.

I graduated Summa Cum Laude at Columbia College, and remained on both the Dean’s and President’s List my entire time at Columbia College. I was also a member of the Momentum Club, which is a group at the college that requires a consistent GPA of 3.5.

I’ve worked with for children and teenagers for most of my life as an art teacher, tutor, mentor, and teacher.

I know every student is different, and learns in their own way (visual, auditory, hands on, etc.). I also fully understand the need for accommodations when it comes to certain students. I myself had accommodations in school growing up, and know how vital they are to success for those who need them.

I was also a nanny for about 5 years, and am CPR and first aid certified. My responsibilities included picking children up for school, taking them to events, tutoring, some cooking, making sure they had daily exercise, and assuring the got ample sleep for the next day.

In my free time, I also volunteer at a wildlife rescue facility, and have cared for countless animals.

I knew a long time ago that my purpose in life is to help others. Nothing else in my life has made me feel more fulfilled than teaching.
