In Miss Tina's Child Care: I believe that children should feel safe, secure, needed, wanted and loved at all times. Miss Tina's Family Childcare provides the nurturing, warm environment for children. I follow the DAP (Development Appropriate Practice) guidelines for curriculum to enhance children's social, physical, emotional, intellectual and cognitive that are in my care. We use the Creative Curriculum to plan for and support thee early learning and development of children in our program. Miss Tina's Family Child Care Philosophy on Play: Three reasons that children play are to develop and learn about themselves, to learn to socialize And have interactions with others as well as to help c Children challenge themselves in opportunities to use language, social skills, and the critical thinking process in one setting. There are five interaction patterns that children should play within; play with adults, solitary play, parallel play, associative play, and cooperative play. Children need interactions in all areas of play starting at birth or infancy. This is the first time of interactions as in taking turns. How the baby reacts to you and smile back. As children approach toddler age they engage in solitary play as in playing with a ball. They roll the ball, they kick the ball, and they bounce the ball until they are tired of the object but they do not engage with others with the ball. It is their object of play. Children then begin to change and start parallel play where they become closer together in their play or side by side but sill have little exchange of materials. Now as they become a little older they start associative play in which they can play in groups, sit side by side and every one has the same thing but bring about different ideas from their materials. Also at this time children learn to begin to play cooperatively with each other maybe just one on one and begin to share and take turns with each other. Begin to also use language more frequently as in "my turn, your turn." Children need interactions of others to help themselves learn how to have fun and play with the freedom of learning new ideas with materials. Children learn from each other. What one child may know the other may not know how to get to that answer. So children help each other learn in play and how to explore and discover together. Our program is unique because we use the Development Appropriate Practices (DAP) guidelines for curriculum enhancement.
