Hello! My name is Eliana Oppenheim, I'm a sophomore at Chico State studying Criminal Justice and am planning on going into Forensic Psychology or Criminology! I have a lot of experience with children and love children of all ages. Working with kids has always been such a huge passion of mine so I have collected a good amount of experience. I started my first job as a Teacher's assistant for kindergarten 1st-grade children and also worked with 7th graders and 2nd graders over 4 years. I was a swim coach for a full summer before moving to Chico for college and worked with babies up to 15-year-old teens. I learned so much from swim coaching and was able to get a ton of experience working with kids not only with teaching them swimming but also communicating with them, learning their behaviors, and problem solving when something would go wrong, which can very easily happen in a pool with children. I then got a job as an IHSS provider for a family who has 3 Down syndrome children. I worked with one child specifically who was 14 years old with hearing loss and no verbal communication. I changed diapers, gave baths, tube tube-fed her daily, but also did household chores such as laundry, cleaning, very light cooking, organizing, restocking, etc. Along with these jobs I also babysat for family friends so I gained experience over the years with children in many different ways. Again, I love being with children, it gives me a lot of happiness to know that I can make a difference in their lives and offer them some care!
