Kamyla G.
Hello! I am reaching out today regarding your current job opening because I feel that I have relevant work experience, the scheduling availability, reliable transportation, your pay scale, and the twelve years of expertise to truly enrich the lives of your children.
My journey in helping raise children as a nanny, truly began when I was babysitting my two younger sisters, as well as the children of my neighbors. I grew up in a small neighborhood on Cape Cod, where responsibility and trust was paramount. I was always drawn to this particular line of work because I felt I was a natural at it and it was genuinely fun for me. I nannied in a more full time capacity for two families in high school as well as college. Even with a full course load in the field of child psychology, I graduated in 2012 and 2015 with 3.7 GPA. I found balancing the focus on children as well as my school work was very do able. When you are with the kids they are always the priority; their needs and safety were the only thing on my mind.
When I graduated in 2015, I moved to Denver for a new experience. I was able to further expand on my career in childcare there working for four families for seven years (including during the pandemic) through Kiddie Up Nannies Agency. When I was not working, I was an active volunteer at Mental Health Colorado, Lightway Daycare, and The Eating Disorder Foundation where I received further training in how to assist children struggling mentally. I enjoyed my time with the families and worked 30-40 hours a week in 1-2 year contracts for each of them. I was able to help make stable routine schedules for the children, establish cognitively stimulating play routines, make sure they get lots of outdoor play, organized trips to mentally stimulating environments like museums, prepared healthy meals, weekly laundry, worked through conflict with positive reinforcement as well as communication, and kept active writing logs on children’s behavior as well as progress in any emotional struggles.
I feel that one of the most rewarding experiences I had was being able to help a few children with special needs as well. With the effective communication and routine strategy with parents, we were able to keep children who can be misunderstood very happy. My favorite part of this work is being able to make a positive impact on a child’s life and the bonding experience you can have with them. I love working with children and I hope to hear back soon!
