I’m Yanick Peña, and im nineteen years of age. I come from a Mexican working family who has their own business for over fifteen years. This culture has teach me that if I wanted something, I had to work hard to make it happen. In my year of high school I work and participate in several childcare programs. I was in a club called “Circle of Friends” where each week we spend an hour having lunch or fun activities with children with special needs. After school, I would do a hour of community service at Blanche Charles elementary school, sometimes they would assign me to work with a kid, teaching kindergarten kids with alphabet , homework, and sometimes helping immigrant kids with their English. This job would be a great opportunity for me, in some years im planning to be the best Kindergarten educator and having this experience would be a great advantage for my career.
I graduated high school in 2020, when our first zoom educational program was created. After many things going on, I decided to stay home and start my journey in Imperial Valley College. At the moment I’m still here studying for my associates in Child development, hoping to get my bachelors in Special Education at UCLA.
