Wei Z.
I have been working with children since giving swim lessons at my swim club which was a Minnows program that helped teach babies ages 6mo to 6 year old to swim to help with water safety. From there I babysat and during High School I took classes on child development and interned at a local Elementary School. While pursuing my degree in Journalism I spent Summers running a summer camp were I had to create and execute a curriculum created by myself. I ended up leaving Journalism and went into teaching a private school on Capitol Hill. As I moved to Oregon I have floated and also held Lead Teacher positions as Preschool Teacher.
I have years worth of experience which helps me connect with children and families and help foster curiosity and encourage learning through the Emilio Reggio teaching philosophy. I have worked with children with learning disabilities along with helping with speech, hand and eye motor skills ( fine and major) socialization, and or tailoring the day around their needs while also implementing many different learning styles catered to their needs. Whether that visual, audio, and hands on are a few.
I create a safe, fun, nuturing environment which helps the children feel supported as they grow and learn. Tons of reading and hands on learning through play. I like to think of myself as a cheerleader and Iam rooting for them every step of their development. I say things such as kiss your brain!
