Are cloth diapers worth it?

My husband and I decided we were going to use cloth diapers for our daughter. We’re pretty environmentally conscious, and it seemed like the better choice for the environment. It’s been about two weeks with our daughter using cloth diapers, though, and it is such a hassle. Are cloth diapers worth it? Does anyone have any tips on how to make them easier to wash/use?

Getting a diaper wet bag was a lifesaver for me! It’s waterproof and keeps the smell of the dirty diaper within the bag. Perfect for whenever we’re on the go and my little one needs a changing! You might not have experienced that just yet if your daughter is still too small to go out, but the worst thing is having dirty diapers smell up your car, or worse: walking around in public smelling like dirty diapers! 1 Like

We used cloth with our oldest, but decided on disposable for our second daughter, and oh my gosh it is so much easier. The diapers do add up on my credit card, but the time I save washing all of those diapers every day makes it well worth it. Never thought I’d be raving about disposable diapers, but here I am doing it. 0 Likes

I only used cloth diapers with dy-dee service. They deliver clean diapers and take away dirty ones. They cost the same as disposable, but your child is not exposed to chemicals in the diaper. The gel that is inside a disposable diaper is a chemical. Also it's easier to potty train a child that can feel themselves as they get wet. If you wash dirty diapers you have to use boiling water (kills bacteria and helps to get them white), you can soak them in a bucket of boiling water and detergent for a few hours, then put them in the washing machine. Use hot water wash and put only the diapers by themselves in the load. Good luck! 0 Likes

Cloth diapers are awesome and now there is a great variety that have environmentally safe reinforcers to protect against leakage. Try Thank u Mom Pocket Newborn Cloth Diapers, they can be purchased on Amazon and they are really cute! 0 Likes
