Mrs. P.
Nanny in Long Island City, NY
I have been a professional nanny for over 5 years now, seamlessly integrating myself into each household I work in. I hold a bachelor’s degree from Harding University in International Business and Marketing. In the past 5 years my focus has been primarily working with infants and toddlers. This doesn’t mean that I don’t enjoy working with all ages. Children have always gravitated towards me. From an early age, my neighbors were confident to leave their babies and children under my care. I had my first “nanny” job at eighteen. I was responsible for a newborn, feeding, sleep training, changing diapers and ensuring that he was safe. Later, when in college, I used to babysit my professor’s children too.
In my experience as a nanny, I make sure that children are preschool ready which means that I emphasize on things like hands are for hugging not hitting, we have cleaned up after we play or do art or crafts. I strive to teach age-appropriate independence including socks and shoes and walking to the bathroom, walking independently when in the park. I model sitting at the table and clean up our plates after.
I would describe my nannying style as highly organized with a touch of chaos here and there. I love to have things in order, so I’m always ready for the next surprise that life throws our way, while still allowing every day to be an adventure and fun. Children thrive when routines and structures are established. They function best with a schedule, so they know what to expect, but as we know, when it comes to little ones, flexibility is a key. I’m a firm believer that nannying is not about a solo performance but a teamwork. I love being able to step in when you are at a loss, or step back when you want to take the reign. I’m energetic, upbeat and a go-getter
