I didn’t want my exhaustion or lack of time to keep her from getting the attention and care she deserved. I decided to hire a babysitter, and my main goal was to find someone who wouldn’t just be physically present to watch my child while I was away but someone who would be a true companion—playing with her, teaching her, reading to her, or even singing to her. I was looking for someone who spoke at least two languages and could actively contribute to her development. I was introduced to Beryl through a friend, and I immediately reached out to see if she would be a good fit for our needs. Since then, Beryl helped us reliably every week. At first, I stayed around for the first few sessions, but it quickly became clear that she was exactly what I had hoped for in a babysitter. Based on what my daughter told me—and the exhaustion I saw on Beryl’s face at the end of each session—it was obvious that my little girl was getting all the attention and care she needed. They read together regularly, played educational games, watched cartoons, drew, painted, and, at my request, visited the nearby playground. Beryl was always available by phone, so I could check in anytime to make sure everything was going well. There were times when I needed some house cleaning as well, and Beryl was incredibly helpful and productive with that too. Aside from a few occasions—due to illness or heavy traffic—she was always on time on the agreed-upon days. We’re truly sad that she’s no longer with us, and Helena still mentions her often. I wholeheartedly recommend Beryl to anyone looking for a kind, patient, flexible, and cheerful babysitter.
