Sylvia is so wonderful! Her place is very clean and she is great with children of all ages. She is such a sweet person. My daughter had fun and felt safe.

What I like:
Sylvia is very kind and understanding. She communicates well, provides updates when needed, and has created a perfect space for the kids right in her home. When she gave me a tour, I was genuinely impressed by how she transformed part of her house into a daycare. The...Read more backyard is a bit small, but there’s still plenty for the kids to do. In fact, I had a hard time getting my daughter to leave.
Sylvia is also religious, but from what I’ve seen, she’s never pushed any of her beliefs onto our daughter. That really shows how much she respects different lifestyles. She did ask that our daughter not eat pork while in her care, which we’re completely fine with.
Our daughter is currently our only child and doesn’t get much peer interaction. Sylvia has a child of her own, though, and mentioned that they’ve played together, which is great. I also really appreciate that she’s willing to take care of our daughter even if no other children are present. Lastly, while this is a paid service, it’s clear that money isn’t Sylvia’s main concern. She’s told us that if we ever need care outside of drill weekends, to just let her know.
What could be improved:
We’ve only used Sylvia’s service for three days so far, and only during drill weekends, so I don’t have much to critique. That said, I haven’t brought this up to her yet, but I’d love to receive pictures throughout the day. It would also be nice if real-time updates were shared through upwards or another platform, or if there were a way to check in on our child without coming across as overbearing. Sylvia's workaround for this is sending out a long text of how the day went after we pick our child up. This is really just me nitpicking though. Sylvia has done an outstanding job, and there’s nothing serious that needs to be addressed at this time.
Challenges I faced:
So far, we haven’t faced any challenges with Sylvia. She asked that our daughter not eat pork in her care, which we respected. She also doesn’t allow parents inside the house beyond the initial tour, which we were okay with. Honestly, I can’t think of a single real “challenge” we’ve had with her. We also try to be as understanding as possible.
