Meet Your Provider
Hi! My name is Deja Slaughter, and I’m the owner and provider of David’s Kingdom Academy, a licensed Family Child Care Home in Winnetka, California (License #195700459).
As a mother of four, I understand how important it is to find childcare that is safe, dependable, and feels like an extension of your family. I created David’s Kingdom Academy with the goal of providing a warm, nurturing environment where children can learn, play, and grow while parents have peace of mind.
I have nearly six years of experience working with children in a variety of educational settings and recently earned my Associate of Arts in Child Development. I also hold Infant Teacher and Preschool Teacher permits and am certified in Pediatric CPR and First Aid, Mandated Reporting, Health & Safety, and Food Safety.
My program serves children ages 0–12 and is designed to support today’s busy families by offering weekend, evening, and late-night childcare—because I know that not every parent works a traditional 9-to-5 schedule.
At David’s Kingdom Academy, you’ll find a clean, welcoming home with an outdoor classroom, hands-on learning, nutritious meals and snacks, homework support for school-age children, and a faith-based environment that encourages kindness, respect, responsibility, and confidence.

At David’s Kingdom Academy, I believe children learn best when they feel safe, loved, and at home. My goal is to create a calm, welcoming environment where every child is known, encouraged, and given the opportunity to grow at their own pace.
Our home is thoughtfully arranged to support learning through play, creativity, and exploration. Children enjoy an outdoor classroom where they can discover nature, build confidence, and develop new skills through hands-on experiences. Inside, they have access to engaging learning materials, age-appropriate activities, quiet reading spaces, and opportunities for both independent and guided play.
I believe childhood should include laughter, imagination, friendships, and meaningful experiences—not constant screen time. That’s why our days are filled with conversation, exploration, learning, and opportunities for children to build confidence and independence.
As a licensed Family Child Care Home, I provide a clean, safe, and structured environment where families can feel confident knowing their children are receiving individualized attention in a small-group setting.
Whether your child is an infant, toddler, preschooler, or school-age student, my goal is to provide a nurturing environment where they feel valued, supported, and excited to return each day.
