Pilar C.
Nanny in Goleta, CA
I've been nannying for one year and have been working in the school system running an aftercare program for 3 years. Throughout college I would babysit for many families, and also did some mentoring for children within a few school districts. My responsibilities in my current role as a afterschool lead are to supervise children in a large setting, coordinate groups of children based on age for a covid-friendly safe environment. Train staff and support them in their groups based on age (K-6th) of about 20 students in each group 8 group total. In addition, I create a schedule for staff that implements craft ideas, homework time, reading, social emotional learning, outdoor activities (e.g., soccer, yoga, basketball, dance) and connect with parents on a daily basis.
While nannying is my second role I typically work full-time in the summer and part-time during the school year in which I prepare breakfast and/or lunch, do light housework - tidying, laundry, loading the dishwasher. I also create learning opportunities for children in which I help with homework, study support, and developmental learning strategies. I enjoy making crafts, incorporating mindfulness exercises, playing sports, and sensory activities.
I understand the important role as a caregiver and would go above and beyond to make sure the children I work with are safe, respected, followed by great communication between children, parents, and myself.
