My name is Abby L and I'm 27 years old. I love hanging out with kids and have been caring for them since the age of 12. I have 6 young cousins, between the ages 5 and 16, who I have continually babysat throughout their growing years. I have also helped extensively for the last 10 years, with the two youngest; 2 girls who are both neurodiverse with Downs Syndrome. I am responsible, creative, artistic, fun, and most importantly, I am very understanding. I love coming up with imaginative games and creating art projects, I really like to sing & read books, as well as spending lots of time outdoors. For the last year and a half, I worked at the daycare, Gretchen's House, where I was a teacher for children ranging 1-5, and on the lucky occasion in the summer, I got the chance to work with the older children of 5-10 years. At Gretchen's House, I learned a lot about the 'High Scope' curriculum and gained a significant amount of tools that assist me in engagement and growth support with children. I LOVED working there and felt as if I made a positive impact on the kids in my care. Please feel free to ask me about my time at Gretchen's House! Before that, I worked at a home daycare for about 3 years, where I created fun crafts & different activities, made meals, taught short lessons and ensured a safe environment for children ranging from 4 months to 6 years. When Covid hit I also helped with virtual schooling for older children. Pre-pandemic, I worked as a swim coach for 5 years where I instructed kids, age 4 to 17, which I especially enjoyed. As an avid swimmer and Instructor, I would love to supervise &/or arrange to give lessons to your kids in the pool! In this mix I have held a variety of other childcare jobs, including support work with an 11yr old boy on the autism spectrum, as an English tutor for a 6yr old Russian girl, and as a part time nanny for two boys, age 2 and 4. I currently am CPR certified and feel confident my ability to act in a potentially emergent situation. I'm very animal friendly, and I am happy to help with cooking and/or cleaning, and most other household tasks! I have my own transportation and should have no problem being punctual.
