Program

Children have an innate sense of wonder and urge to explore. Following this natural impulse can be the best way for them to learn, when provided with the right environment. Blossoms Childcare uses this child-centered approach to incorporate the children’s personal interests into a themed curriculum of integrated academics.

Blossoms Childcare is a center rich in activities where the children’s curiosity leads them to eagerly participate in learning Language Arts, Math, Science, and Creative Expression through Art, Dance and Music– all at their own pace.

While we do expose them to a variety of academic topics through play, we believe that early childhood should, more importantly, be about experiences that teach independence, communication, and empathy. Through play, children are taught self-help skills that encourage confidence. They are presented with opportunities for insightful discussions that promote critical thinking. Above all, we help children understand their emotions and that of others so they may learn the best way to express how they feel and how to best respond to others’ feelings. We show them genuine care and love which brings about the compassion within themselves.

We teach through modeling desirable behavior. This means we show the children the respect that we would like to receive in turn. Opportunities to model respectfulness often occur during moments that call for disciplinary action. We do not engage in any discipline of a punitive nature. Instead, children are led through two-way discussions about behavior, motives and emotions until an understanding is reached and problem solving skills are practiced.

Finally, it is important to us to form a partnership with the parents in order for each child to reach their full potential. We value parent communication and keep parents informed using daily notes and fun monthly newsletters. We also strive to help parents track the children’s development by updating them on upcoming milestones and skills that we are currently practicing. We offer parent-teacher conferences twice a year to discuss their children's individual Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP) to ensure your children's needs are met and their growth in all domains is optimal. Information about how to continue supporting the child’s development at home will be readily available. Every child grows at their own pace and this aspect of the program will cater to them individually.

Teachers

I started working with young children in high school through a Regional Occupation in Education Program where I assisted a kindergarten class in 2007. From there I have worked for the City of Downey and the Downey Unified School District in Los Angeles planning and teaching lessons for various children’s programs. My experiences working with a variety of age groups lead me to discover a particular interest in early childhood development, thus I became a preschool teacher at a French-English Preschool school,
L’ Heritage Francais. I eventually moved to San Jose in 2014 to complete my Bachelors degree in Child Development at San Jose State University.

Since moving to the Bay Area I have worked as a head preschool teacher at Little Prodigy Preschool in Mountain View. In this position, I have designed creative curriculums with heavy emphasis on science, reading, art and discovery. Along with developing strong bonds with the children, I also formed close relationships with the parents of the children in my care. I supplied the parents with the latest research in child development as well as parenting tips and tools in how to keep track of developmental milestones and promote growth both inside and outside of the classroom. I have extensive experience in dealing with a wide range of personalities, temperaments and cultural differences. I have assisted in potty training over 60 toddlers!

My daughter's birth has inspired me to start a childcare center of my own so that I may provide higher quality services to a smaller classroom size. I am excited to have created an environment that is supportive of individual needs, that allows learning to occur naturally and in accordance with each child’s own pace and interests.

I am consistently working on my own professional and educational growth to provide parents with the most up-to-date research in child development and parenting practices.

Location

Blossoms Childcare is located at the edge of the Blossoms Hill neighborhood of San Jose– where beautiful, scenic hills lie just beyond the backyard. The children will be spending their day in a comfortable home with two adjoining and open spaces that offer a lot of natural light. The space is curated to their learning experiences and reassessed often by switching out toys and changing up the layout for a novel, fresh feel monthly. The layout and toys are chosen and designed to maximize their desire to participate, learn and have fun; all according to the monthly learning theme. The children also have abundant opportunity to play outside, a minimum of 2 hours a day. A big sheltered patio leads out to a large grassy lawn with play structures, and plenty of space for a wide variety of outdoor play. There is also a large garden created for the children’s use and a designated sand-and-water play area. It is a space that invites children to explore and play.
