Welcome to The Village Home Daycare!
“We believe children learn best when they feel safe, supported, and loved. We provide an environment that is warm and comfortable for our children. We establish consistent routines, provide warm meals, and have some of the most dedicated staff around.”
Our mission is to provide a safe, warm, and engaging home-based learning environment. At The Village Home Daycare everyday is a day to help children develop socially, emotionally, physically, and cognitively.
Here we focus on child-centered teaching, developmentally appropriate practices, and belief that “play is a child’s work”. Our goal is to develop each child’s confidence, creativity, and lifelong learning skills in our program. To support this goal instead of following a set curriculum, each teacher is encouraged to develop lesson plans that follow the interest of the children.
Location The Village Home Daycare offers childcare programs for nearby families in Detroit, as well as the larger Detroit metro area.

Hi there! My name is Marshawnda Dixson, I am 24 years old and both the owner and director of The Village Home Daycare. I have always wanted to work with children and believe with all my heart that God placed me here to do just that.
I entered the field of early childhood education in May of 2021 as an assistant preschool teacher. I had the privilege of being under the guidance of an amazing Director who not only gave me my first lead teaching role, but advocated for higher wages on my behalf, and helped me pursue higher education.
A year later I moved up to lead GSRP teacher. I stayed in this role for just over a year before God called me to begin The Village Home Daycare.
