I feel children learn best when there is a well balance of structure and play in their day. Even though I provide a curriculum, learning isn't about the ABC's or 123's, but also the learning of values. The learning of honesty, respect, selfreliance, and potential, self-discipline, and moderation, the values of being; dependable, love, sensitivity to others, kindness, friendliness and fairness are the values of giving.My main goal is for the children to have fun, improve social skills and encourage creative expression. I feel children learn so much from hands on activity and through play. Free play, art, science, music/singing, dancing, dramatic play/pretend, puzzles and educational TV/videos are just some of the activities we will be doing. I especially love teachable moments. I don't have a weather chart hanging on my wall. Instead we will be talking about how the weather is at meal times. Working together has a team to set the table and making sure everyone has the right colored dishware. I don't use worksheets to describe left and right, up and down or in and out. Everyday activities are about going up and down the stairs, in and out of rooms or wash our hands and putting on shoes. Relating to the things we do or see is our worksheets. Children will learn to develop self-esteem and to respect each other, adults and property.
