Curiosity kills the cat, but it builds the child.

Hi, my name is Nici, and I am 23 years old. I enjoy working with children, and have served in childcare settings since late high school/early college.

Unlike most sitters, I was raised as an only child. My love for kids stems from a desire for sibling companionship, and a desire to someday raise a big family. I have always exhibited a motherly nature, and treat other people’s children as my own.

Initially, I began volunteering in the children’s ministry at my former ministry for 3-4 years. At this ministry, I worked with ages 4-13, and engaged with them through games, arts and crafts, holiday parties, bible lessons, you name it. For the past two years, I have professionally worked in a childcare setting for a local ministry with ages 0-9. I tend to the children in outdoor and indoor play, stations, meal time, and dance parties.

While enrolled at the University of Memphis, I pursued Elementary Education, with the hope to become a teacher. I completed over sixty hours of the program, and enjoyed the experience of learning how to better serve children in the classroom, and become an advocate for quality education.

For the past two school years at the UofM, I landed my first job at a local preschool with ages 0-5; I absolutely loved it. I started off as an aftercare teacher with ages 3-5, then extended my availability to serve in all of the classrooms from the infant room, to the junior kindergarten classroom. I adored the experience of serving in an early childhood setting, and loving on the kids during their early stages of development.

For the past year and some change, I have served on a biweekly schedule with the toddler class at my current ministry. Our favorite activities include coloring, eating snacks, dancing, changing diapers, and keeping our hands to ourselves. I have the most experience with toddlers, but am not limited to a particular age.

In the past, I have extended babysitting services to families with multiple children. Currently, I am pursuing CPR and First-Aid certification. I am also pursuing to fulfill a certified babysitter course, along with other certification and skills needed to become a proactive, safety-first nanny. I work full-time at a local car dealership, with availability to extend and maintain consistent childcare services on weekday evenings, and over the weekend.
