I learned to be a care giver as a child- while assisting my single mother in raising my younger brother who was born with cerebral palsy and a host of other special needs. Over the last few decades I have been Auntie to many children and Nanny to several families. I've worked with families that were blessed with up to 5 children in the house hold. Similar to running a small army (smile). I've also worked with families that were blessed with just one child, requiring a more targeted focus and creativity. I was born an artist so tapping into a child's creativity is important to me and I always try to nurture a child's imagination using cooking, drawing and other wonderful tools and resources such as books, art mediums, found objects and nature. As candidly animated woman of wisdom and maturity- children find me to be quite captivating and fun. All the while honoring my boundaries for respect. I believe that to receive respect you must give respect- Most adults dismiss this especially when it comes to children. But I believe that such respect and regard so important with children if we want them to grow up to be healthy and caring citizens in a world filled with challenges. And we do....
