Mai B.
Babysitter in Seattle, WA
I am excited for the opportunity to take care and interact with children by promoting people's learning and personal development. I enjoy working in environmental education and in youth development. I wish to give back to my community and be a resource for families. I have many years of experience caring for children and youth by being an older sibling, educator and mentor. I am the second oldest of six children and grew up with and even took care of many kids since I was young. I agree with Wee Care's statement with “Raising our children takes a village”. I was raised by a community of people in Los Angeles, CA who acted as my guardians in which I learned much from and that molded me into the person I am today. I am patient, kind, resourceful, punctual, responsible, fun and a problem solver. I have 8+ years of education experience including working at community centers, curriculum building with community-based organizations, being a youth mentor, working in conservation education with camps, zoos, and aquariums. I am continually learning to support different learners and conducting activities to meet and also enhance their levels of self-identity, social justice awareness, academic performance, and other matters essential to the overall success of the youth’s learning experience. I am currently working at a museum as an outreach educator. My main duties are to take pieces from the museum out to school and communities so they can interact and learn more about the world through hands-on activities. I endeavor to work toward reducing inequality and creating opportunities in communities around the world.
