Jennah V.
Babysitter in Madera, CA
My first job I worked as a behavior technician and worked one on one with children diagnosed with autism and related disorders. I worked with the child and their families along with staff to ensure and abide by their growth plan. Working one on one with the child included doing daily day to day tasks while implementing trials. I would stay with the child throughout the entire therapy session and perform tasks like but not limited to, homework, social play, and educational activities. At the end of every session I would communicate with the guardian regarding the day.
I also worked at a daycare where I started out as a teachers aide/floater. I covered teachers' classes on their breaks and lunches. I worked with children in their toddler years to grade school. I also had the opportunity to have my own kindergarten class. I made sure my class was entertaining as well as engaging. Following set schedules was part of my responsibilities. This included but not limited to, homework time, meal time, free play, arts and crafts, and general education. I also changed diapers when needed when working in the toddler room.
Furthermore, I also worked as an after school instructor. Age groups ranged from kindergarten to sixth grade. I supervised my groups as needed and followed the program curriculum.
I am very family oriented and spend my free time with my older sister and her children. My niece recently turned two and my nephew is six months old. My mother and I are very close and enjoy spending as much time together as possible.
I am pursuing my bachelors degree in child and family sciences, specifically child development. I chose this major because I grew up with a family majorly spending time at my house and I became interested in children's growth. I was one of the older children and taking care of those younger than me came to me naturally. I enjoy catering to children's needs as each individual is different. Every child has a mind of their own and with distinct personalities that I find very fascinating.
I believe I can have a positive impact on children. I am detail oriented, compassionate, family oriented, and understanding. Taking care of children is in my nature and my passion. I am high spirited and a positive person that can bring joy to children and their families.
I will be graduating this fall with a bachelors degree in child development. I will also be obtaining a child care permit in the fall as well.
