Babysitter in Spartanburg, SC
I have two children of my own, a 5yo girl and 2yo boy. In the middle of a huge custody battle. Long story but willing to expound. I absolutely love children. I started babysitting pretty regularly I think when I was around 12 or 13 when I lived with my aunt who was also a foster parent. We had children ages anywhere between newborn to 5 with us constantly for at least 4 years straight, probably longer. When I graduated from high school (2008), my mother was a legal assistant for a group of local attorneys, two of whom were a couple. While she worked at their office, I was at their house every day babysitting their son and niece (both of them 2yo when I started), doing the housekeeping, etc. Once they started preschool, I assisted in their class until they were in 6th grade, being afforded the opportunity to teach both of them how to read and write. I eventually started working a part-time job at a restaurant, then went to full-time as the children outgrew needing a daily babysitter. Later, I quit my job of 9 years two weeks before my first child was born and have been a stay-home mother for the past 5 years. I have also worked with other special needs children and children that got behind in school due to existential circumstances helping them catch up. I also have several very close friends who had children the same time I had my daughter and between three of us, anytime any of us mothers needed to get something done, we juggled children to help each other out. I've also had somewhat of a special place in my heart when it comes to children. I've had the ability to connect with them at times even when their own parents had difficulties. I've had countless instances where I've been out in public shopping or in restaurants and had crying babies want me to hold them just from me saying something like "aww, baby, what's wrong?" I saw a couple struggling once with their child in a restaurant, since we were the next table over, I offered to play with the child so they could finish eating. By the end of it, the child started crying when it was time for them to leave. Once I was at a national conference in Atlanta, walked out of a meeting, which was the biggest event of that week, to use the restroom. As I was coming out of the bathroom, I noticed this couple that was dressed very nicely but seemingly very stressed not knowing exactly what to do with their child. Not knowing who they were or what exactly was wrong, I asked if there was anything I could help with, possibly watch the baby if needed. The baby was barely a few weeks old. The mother responded with "yes, please! The person that was supposed to watch her never showed up." I later found out the wife was the keynote speaker of the event and was a high up official in the federal government working to stop human trafficking, and was close friends with President Trump, Paula White, Sarah Huckabee-Sanders, and many other big-name people. So that was kinda cool.
