Nicole Z.
Hi! My name is Sue.
I work with children of all ages in an engaged, collaborative manner with client confidentiality and integrity. I am certified and/or trained in CPR and AED, first-aid, mental health, safety crisis care prevention, positive behavior support intervention, grief and bereavement counseling, or other trainings that ensure the safety and wellbeing of children. I spent over a decade working with children who suffer from social emotional impairments and to whom live in temporary residencies: foster care, homeless shelters, group homes, and low-income housing. My role included the develop and implement effective communication strategies and institute plans to accommodate the needs of a population of students whose negative thought process disrupts their ability to function in a low educator-student ratio classroom. I am highly trained in areas of computer technology, I have 5 years of experience as a remote tutor K-12th graders, and I understand numerous school software programs and grasp a clear understanding of unfamiliar learning platforms easily. I understand the stresses that come from ensuring children are on task with their schoolwork and have counseled and taught 3rd – 12th grade children at a therapeutic day school for nine years and instructed arts and crafts during afterschool hours and vacations. My hobbies include but are not limited to hiking, electric-bike riding, nature walking, journaling, and arts and crafts: canvas and mural painting, coloring, and drawing, loom-weaving, and creating projects from scratch. I am an excellent baker and cook from scratch and encourage healthy eating habits but also enjoy snacking on snowy-rainy days while binging on a TV or movie series. My art supply is never-ending, and I am a collector of children’s books and enjoy reading C.S. Lewis and Tim Keller novels in my own time. I am a Bible student, the member of a Christian community church, and volunteer at an equestrian horse barn a handful of hours a week. PBS is my favorite TV channel. I’m not committed to watching any program and I do not idolize celebrity personalities or sport figures, but I love watching the Olympics: gymnastics, swimming, and ice-skating. Decorating for the holidays is a favorite pastime of mine and I usually have a paper-ring countdown for one or more up-coming events because I love the anticipation of a great day!
