Children, housework, imagination and discipline have been my domain since I was college aged. Nannying has been my default work since 2000. I worked with a family in Santa Monica with four elementary-aged children for just under two years. The family keeps in touch with me to this day and the children (now teens) still write to me and share stories/memories of how magical their time with me was. I’ve been called Mary Poppins more often than not. I’m the best goofy and spontaneous playmate but also expect respect and help from the children in cleaning one mess or project before continuing onto another. These tasks aren’t chores but can be made into fun. Every minute of every day is an opportunity for a lesson in some way, not always expressed verbally but in small cues. Children are extremely intelligent and perceptive; I delight in acting as a mentor, guide and friend in their unique development. There is a light, vivacious energy in me that somehow appeals to kiddos...... yet I’m extremely organized, responsible and can prioritize play versus diligence in daily logistics. Cleaning is a hobby, safety is top priority, feelings are justified and heard, and a home can be a haven.
