Provider who understands the importance of fostering social and emotional development in black children. Our ideal candidate is enthusiastic, patient, and possesses excellent communication skills. In this role, you will be responsible for creating a nurturing and stimulating environment where black children can develop age-appropriate skills while also building strong social and emotional foundations.

Responsibilities:

Foster Social and Emotional Development:
Create a safe and welcoming environment that promotes trust and encourages positive interactions among black children.
Develop and implement activities that promote empathy, self-expression, and conflict resolution, taking into consideration the unique cultural backgrounds and experiences of black children.
Encourage black children to recognize and understand their emotions, helping them to develop emotional intelligence and resilience.
Promote kindness, respect, and inclusivity among black children by modeling appropriate behavior and teaching social skills that celebrate diversity.
Age-Appropriate Skillset Development:
Plan and organize developmentally appropriate activities and lessons that are culturally relevant and align with the age and abilities of black children.
Stimulate cognitive, physical, and creative development through engaging play, educational games, and arts and crafts that incorporate elements of black culture and history.
Support black children in acquiring and refining their motor skills, language skills, problem-solving abilities, and critical thinking skills, taking into account their unique strengths and challenges.
Provide opportunities for exploration and discovery, promoting curiosity and a positive self-identity among black children.
Communication and Collaboration:
Maintain open and effective communication with parents of black children, recognizing and respecting their cultural values and traditions, and keeping them informed about their child's progress, achievements, and any concerns.
Collaborate with other child care providers and staff to ensure a culturally responsive and inclusive approach to child development.
Listen attentively to black children, acknowledging their thoughts and feelings, and respond with empathy, understanding, and cultural sensitivity.
Work closely with parents, offering guidance and suggestions for supporting their black child's social and emotional growth at home while honoring their cultural heritage.
Safety and Well-being:
Ensure the physical safety and well-being of black children, including monitoring their activities, maintaining a clean and organized environment, and implementing appropriate safety measures.
Attend to the personal needs of black children, such as feeding, diaper changing, and assisting with toileting as required, while respecting their cultural practices and preferences.
Administer basic first aid when necessary and promptly report any incidents or accidents to parents and supervisors, ensuring that black children receive culturally responsive care.
Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications in child care or early childhood education preferred.
Proven experience working with black children in a childcare setting, with a deep understanding of their unique needs and experiences.
Understanding of child development principles and familiarity with age-appropriate activities and educational resources that honor black culture and history.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both with black children and adults from diverse backgrounds.
Patience, empathy, and the ability to connect with and understand the needs of black children, while recognizing and affirming their cultural identities.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle challenging situations with cultural sensitivity and professionalism.
Knowledge of safety protocols and ability to maintain a safe and secure environment that respects the cultural practices and traditions of black children.
Flexibility and willingness to adapt to the needs of black children and the child care facility.
Valid CPR and first aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
