I feel that children learn best through play that is planned, supported, and will develop the whole child. Through play, children learn about themselves, other people, and the world. As children play they acquire language, learn to solve problems, learn to control their behavior, and explore social roles. By using materials, children learn to observe, compare, sort, and sequence. Their development broadens as they experiment, make discoveries, and learn to think openly.We use the Teaching Strategies Creative Curriculum for Family Child Care to plan for and support the early learning and development of children in our program.My program is unique in that I have been in business for over 34 years and plan to continue for many more. I offer a child-directed play based program using the Creative Curriculum. I plan and implement a high quality program that is developmentally appropriate using the main areas of development and learning. I am honored that many of the children in my care are the children of children I had in my care when I started.
