Play is the basis for learning in my program and it is how I believe that children learn best. I strive to offer the type of environment where the children in my care are free to explore and learn by interacting with one another and the environment that they are in. I understand that all children learn from a variety of different methods and strive to meet the children where they are at and provide the means needed to grow and thrive in this environment. A majority of the day will involve free play where the child will be in charge of choosing what and how they play. This is done to not hinder the natural learning processes that children possess when they are not limited to only to do what the teacher determines needs to be done. While the main basis of my program is free play and child led, I do provide structured time/activities as open times for the child to attend and participate. This is mainly done through the preschool curriculum that is used in my program. My goal is that all children will have learned to be kind and respectful to themselves and one another.
