Besides caring for my daughter, I have cared for nieces, nephews, and neighborhood children. I homeschooled my daughter and developed the curriculum for her. She was advanced and bored in public school. My curriculum kept her engaged and was more of a well-rounded educational experience. My house was where the kids all came to and would stay, some weeks at a time. They liked coming to my because I listened to them and spent time with them. I didn't ignore them or sit them in front of a TV. I think the parents felt comfortable leaving their children with me because they knew I would always be right with the children, I always made sure their children were well fed and had fun but were safe. An example of how I cared for the children and why I even had children want to move in with me: When my daughter was 4 a neighborhood friend of hers came over and the mother said she was running to the corner store to get milk. I had the girls help make playdough and then let them play with it. Three hours later the mother hadn't returned and it was dinner time. I made dinner for the little girl and my daughter. I made ham, green beans, and mac and cheese. The little girl gobbled it down and asked for seconds. She said she usually had chicken nuggets for dinner. Children need a loving, caring, and nurturing environment.
