Katie's Kinder Garden Preschool and Child Care is committed to providing a respectful, stimulating and safe environment for up to ten children ages two months to 6 years, and their families. The program strives to support the needs of each child's physical, intellectual, emotional and social development through providing an enriching environment that cultivates the seeds of childhood by helping children grow through imaginative play, discovery-based learning, and artistic adventures! As a family child care provider, I work closely with a small group of children to provide the attention and security they need. I believe that by being the only provider a child sees during the day, children feel confident about their routine, appreciated, listened to, nourished and safe. These aspects of attachment can be developed through simple routine care such as diapering and feeding. Each infant shall be allowed to form and follow his or her own pattern of sleeping and waking. Toddlers will be introduced to a classroom pattern of routines as they become ready. Transition from one activity to another will be respectful of the children's needs.My goals include building a relationship of partnering with parents to help them with their child while they are at work. I want parents to consider me an extension of their family and feel confident that when their children are in my care, they are being raised with similar values. We work as a team to accomplish this goal through daily conversation about how the individual child is doing, as well as any special efforts that may be necessary. Parents are welcome to visit at any time during the day. I communicate to the child and family through a communication folder, electronically via social media or texts, and monthly through a photo shoot on the password protected portion of my website. This provides parents with a glimpse of how their child's days and weeks went, as well as a picture book opportunity for the child to help them discuss with their family, in their own words, what was special about their time with their peers. Annual gatherings are an integral part of my philosophy as they provide families with an opportunity to meet and discuss their children and the program and provide feedback that can be used within the programming. A child's routine across their young years is very important and I encourage families to make a commitment to the program so that the child can grow with his or her peer group. Another goal of my program's philosophy is to prepare children for our vastly diverse and ever changing society. If they are to successfully function in their future society, they will need to develop the skills and strategies necessary to communicate and develop relationships with people of differing cultures and backgrounds. Katie's Kinder Garden has a strong commitment to multi-cultural, anti-bias care and education that promotes respect for all people regardless of differences in race, culture, sexual orientation, language, socioeconomic level, age, health, physical and mental ability, religion and family structure. I not only affirm children's identities, but also further explore and celebrate a wide variety of differences. Respect is openly discussed as well as addressing issues of discrimination and biased attitudes.
