Behind every thriving child is a caregiver who makes it possible.
At Upwards, we partner with these dedicated providers through our Boost program, connecting families to quality childcare and seeing firsthand the care and commitment that define their work.
The Daycare Spotlight Series shines a light on their journeys and helps families discover warm, trustworthy childcare in their communities.
Finding childcare can feel overwhelming, but when you connect with a caregiver who’s the right fit for your family, their passion and dedication shine through from the very first conversation. That’s exactly the feeling you get when you meet Marlen, who runs a warm and welcoming family daycare alongside her mother in a quiet San Jose neighborhood. Even better, she has 4 open spots available for childcare ages 0-5 years old for an immediate start date.
Marlen’s passion for caring for kids started years ago while caring for her younger brother. After graduation and working in other childcare facilities, she realized she wanted to make her passion a business and partner with her mother. In 2024, they opened GM Tiny Dreamers, a state-licensed small family daycare with a focus on exploration, creativity, and learning. Children are taught in both English and Spanish, providing an enriching bilingual learning environment. When asked what her favorite part about being a childcare provider is, Marlen said it’s when her kids hit big milestones like learning to hold a pencil correctly for the very first time.
Staying connected with families is a top priority for Marlen and her mother. Parents can expect regular updates throughout the day on what their child is doing through text messages, pictures, and videos, giving peace of mind while families are working.
Currently, Marlen has 4 open childcare slots available for full-time care with an immediate start date. Her daycare welcomes children from infancy through age 5. If you are in the San Jose area and in need of quality childcare, check out GM Tiny Dreamers.
